Update: 3 September 2018, Monday
China once again took home the biggest cache of medals this year with 289 in total, although some would say this is conservative compared to previous years. Host nation, Indonesia came in 4th with 98 total medals but that’s the least of their celebration. With some considering this Asian Games to be the best Games ever, Indonesia surely has something to shout about beyond the medals tally. Well done to all participating nations and athletes that performed at their very best! We’ll see you folks back here again for the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.
The 2018 Asian Games begins from 18 August to 2 September in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia. This Asian Games will be the first time co-hosted in two cities with the opening and closing ceremony held at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta.
There will be 45 countries competing in 40 disciplines in 462 medal events over 25 days, so take a good look through the schedule below and choose your favorites! It will also be the first time in Asian Games history that eSports be contested as a demonstration sport in the Games with the official medal event in the 2022 Asian Games. We’ll be looking out for the Badminton, Cycling, Field Hockey, Football, Golf, Rugby Sevens and Tennis events.
